Casting A Spell

“Casting A Spell” is one of a series of photo manipulations I did for a new client.  I wanted to share them with you because I felt they are some of my best pieces.  My client is a musician who goes by, Greg Sorcery, he has an infinity with hawks, just like I do.

I received his photos, which his lovely wife took per my requirements and his few instructions as to what he was looking for in these photos, which he was going to use both as wall art and as flyers.  With these requirements I created him four different flyers. to choose from.   The first being the photo below: “Casting A Dragon Spell”, the flyer I created was the photo to the left: “Casting A Spell” giving my client a magical look along with morphing him into half man, half  hawk.

Visiting A Dragon

The third photo I created for my client “Visiting A Dragon” was more vibrant and colorful, which he had stated he didn’t mind chaos and symbolism in his flyers. I like to build up to the more vibrant and more chaotic works because it is like a virtual drum roll. This  third photo was different from the first two not only because of its’ vibrancy but because I had changed my client’s outfit and the background, plus turned the whole photo into more of an illustration, which my client had stated he womagicmancpruld be happy with if I felt so inclined to do. The fourth photo “Magic Man” I created was my favorite it isn’t as vibrant as the third photo but, has more symbolism in it than all three of the previous photos put together. Since my client had stated he liked symbolism, I choose to include symbols from his life professionally and personally.  Such as the hawk, a dragon, and the stars, which not only represents music to him cause it reaches out and touches so many people in this world but also represented the peace in which music brings to him.  I also included two crabs for they represented both him and his wife.

Finally I will leave you with one of the Photo manipulations I did of myself.  I created this creation out of three different photos I took myself and brought together within Photoshop to create how my passion for art and graphic design burns through me fast and furious.

Artist Helping Artist Network

Artist Helping Artist Network

Artist Helping Artist Network

I have started a new group on FB “Artist Helping Artist Network”, I hope this group takes off and There is a lot of communicating between artist from all over, Here in Buffalo and Western NY but also other states and even countries.  Talking about how they market their artwork, how they work together with in their own communities etc.  I truly believe that Artist with in a Community need to work together to help the Artist Community grow because if they don’t that Community won’t grow it will stagnate and die. There will be to much in fighting and cliques being built “East side” vs “West side”, “Contemporary” vs “Photography”  vs “Realism” etc., and then again we have those who say if don’t have formal training you can’t possibly be an artist.  What ever happen to apprenticeships or born in talent?  With all these cliques and inner fighting the Art Community will die out,  I have seen it happen and it is a very sad thing to watch.  Because Art is really the center point to many economies  and to many education plans.

Art can bring tourist into a town/city, it gets children and teens off streets and give them something to do on the days they don’t have school. Art has saved lives, healed those who are sick, mentally and physically.  I have always said “Art is the Music to my Soul”!   If I get down or feeling like I am losing control of my life, I shut myself into a room and lose myself into an art piece, my art works what ever is bothering me out onto that canvas and I come out feeling refreshed and all ready to face what ever is stressing me out.  Or I can take my camera and just go off into solitary walk and just lose myself into taking pictures of what ever hits me at the moment.  I meditate as I take those pictures, losing myself into the moment.   Again, I return refreshed and ready to return to what ever it is I need to face.

I know others who do the same thing but with music, beading, wood working, dancing, writing, etc.  What is it that can cause you to go into the “moment of focus” and then feel totally ready to face a problem?

If you are on FB and interested in joining my new group Artist Helping Artist Network please go here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/491008764300955/

Just a side note* This group is not just for artist, it is for anyone in the art community – Artist, Art Dealers, Art Gallery Directors, Owners, Curators etc, Art Collectors, Those looking to Sponsor Artist – Etc

What are your thoughts on Art Communities in your area?

WorkShop Coming SOON!! Learning To See –

LEARNING TO SEE” Workshop That I will be teaching here in Buffalo, NY so if you are here the 19th or the 26th place it on your Calendar and come HAVE FUN!!!

Vision is the ability to see what is invisible to others – Jonathan Swift

Two-Part Saturday Series with Resident Artist Trinton “TrinityHawk” Garrett Saturday 01/19, 01/26; 12-3PM, $20 each day

Description :

A workshop for all artists of all levels about learning to see in a totally new way!

You don’t have to be a professional artist to take part in this set of classes! Just have an imagination and be willing to free your mind and look at everyday objects differently!

This first class will be a part of a series of classes, which will be about preparing yourselves to opening your minds to seeing the world differently. When Georgia O’Keeffe painted, she didn’t paint the WHOLE flower she painted just a leaf, or just the center of the flower; she liked to focus on just a small part of whatever she was painting. She isn’t the only artist who sees/saw things in this way or in “a different manner”.  Many cartoonist sees things in a “tongue and cheek” manner. Alfred Arreguin, an abstract artist saw the world in colors and shapes.

Materials:

For the workshop, please bring paint, pencils, markers or whatever your choice of medium is, as well as, something to paint/draw on (small canvas, wood, paper, etc). A ruler, pencil, scissors, two paper clips, and light weight cardboard (6×6 square) will be provided.

If you have any questions, please contact Trinton at trinityhawkphoto@hotmail.com

Plus, don’t forget to bring your imagination!
