I am really proud of this one. I am still cleaning out external hard drives. So far have cleaned out 400 pictures tonight alone – over the past week I have deleted close to 1,000 pictures off one external drive and I have four of them to clean up and out.
I also am editing pictures for client and re-organizing my studio as I had a door put on my open door studio this week. So, I have been very busy making improvements, hopefully for the better.
My wife and I have Dinner guest coming this Sunday so tomorrow I will be cleaning house in between working on photos and burning CDs.
Let me know what you think of the photo to the left. I am thinking of having it printed on Metallic in large format! All sizes are up for grabs but the large format metallic print will being my studio for sale, as well placed on my etsy site.
Let me know if your interested in a print, and what size!
I have been working on cleaning out some external hard drives (I have 4) and making some inspirational posters. As well as dealing with some personal issues over a doctor. Perhaps I write a blog about that issue at another time. The poster attached is my most recent poster I have created and the background, the gargoyle guarded house is one of my favorites in our neighborhood.
I love going and looking at this house during the day or even at dusk. Imagining as if those magnificent guardians of stone are looking down upon us, watching over those who live there in that house. Stretching their stone wings after dark when everyone is asleep and scarring away all the bad spirits and wrong doers, Having taken an oath to guard and protect those who live within these stone walls of this house.
I am working on a new painting it is a dream catcher on an antique mirror. The idea that popped into my head as I looked into the mirror was Dream Catchers and dreams are similar to mirrors. For the dream catches repel the bad dreams allowing only the Good to pass through and reflect into the mind of the dreamer. Yet, deflects the bad dreams by catching them into the webbing.
When health can turn into sickness, with what ease secure possessions can turn insecure, with nature youth inclines in one direction only—the direction of old age, with what ease old age inclines in one direction only—the direction of decay and death, are they not then thoroughly disillusioned? Or are they connected? Can they then be heard to say “This earth-life really satisfies us”? Because we move within a circle sickness – health / Youth to death and decay / good and evil..all of life goes round and round.
I want to send a special invite to my readers. If you live close to Buffalo, NY and are able to make it. Some of my art will be in a group Winter Showing: Up-Cycled & Re-Puposed art show. Below is the information about the show. You can also find information and RSVP on Facebook here: Please, if you are able attend, I would be glad to have you and to be able to say hello.
We are taught that the Second Noble Truth teaches that the cause of suffering is craving or thirst (tanha). I see “thirst” as Gluttony because we continually search for something outside ourselves to make us happy. But no matter how successful we are, how rich or popular we are, we never remain satisfied.
The Buddha taught that this thirst grows from ignorance of the self. We go through life grabbing one thing after another to get a sense of security about ourselves. We attach not only to physical things or beings, but also to ideas and opinions about ourselves and the world around us. Then we grow frustrated when the world doesn’t behave the way we think it should and our lives don’t conform to our expectations, and we begin to look for something more to satisfy ur happiness.
I have been reading up on Buddhism and the Four Noble Truths – The first noble truth is “Life is Suffering” the second one is one I am reading upon and studying upon tonight..The Second Noble Truth teaches that the cause of suffering is craving or thirst (tanha). We continually search for something outside ourselves to make us happy. But no matter how successful we are, we never remain satisfied. – I look upon what is going on around me in the world and this makes so much sense. Greed is so prevalent. – get as much as you can get and keep grabbing, keep building. Don’t worry about anyone else just keep grabbing wealth, cars, computers, etc and that thirst for more is never satisfied. – Then I look at myself (the self) Yeah I would like a home instead of an apartment , but I don’t NEED it. I would like a better computer (I only NEED it for my business and my art, so that I may take care of my family. It is not a craving that once I get that mega computer I am going to NEED a bigger and better one – on and on- not unless my computer crashes. I have even done barter jobs for computers). I would love to have enough money to pay our bills off and to not have to worry about who is calling us on the phone, or if we are going to have enough money to pay rent. This is so Kitra Garrett can rest some and not work so hard! Other then bills and food – money is not a NEED for me. I am not a big person to “WANT” this or “SPEND” on that. As stated yesterday on a status I tend to be a bit of a cheap penny pincher anyway. Would I like to be able to spend on OTHERS once in awhile and give to charities – sure! that would be great. But, I feel there are other ways to help out too. Give of your time, of your self. Yet, I don’t see people doing this anymore. Use to be people helped people even if they didn’t have “the time” or “the money” and anymore to many people are to focused on “themselves” and not on others, again leading to the thirst (tanha) and the suffering. This Second Noble Truth really has made a lot of sense to me!
