working and growing….

This past month has been amazingly out of this world busy and it appears to be slowing down just a bit but not a lot, just refocusing the busy in different areas of life.  I have lost a contract as it has come to an end and I am picking up 4 commissions, a live demo painting job and a local charity, seven chances, company has hired me to design their new logo, business cards, and a flyer for their up coming fundraiser.  PLUS – I have an art piece I have to get done before this coming Friday the 7th for an up coming art show I have been invited to be apart of.   Life is good – Life is good.

I must not forget that I am also preparing to write for an up coming new magazine called “Strange Beauty” and will be having some of my photography published with its’ pages.  What will I be writing?  Will I be actually answering questions because I be writing an advice column. I actually need to come up for a title for it, which I have yet to do.  But, haven’t received a launch date yet for the first issue so I am good on time, I think.

Below is a couple of pics I have done for a couple of people just in the past few ways…comments are welcomed.

“Ice Blue Metal Swirl”

I am really proud of this one. I am still cleaning out external hard drives. So far have cleaned out 400 pictures tonight alone – over the past week I have deleted close to 1,000 pictures off one external drive and I have four of them to clean up and out.

I also am editing pictures for client and re-organizing my studio as I had a door put on my open door studio this week. So, I have been very busy making improvements, hopefully for the better.

My wife and I have Dinner guest coming this Sunday so tomorrow I will be cleaning house in between working on photos and burning CDs.

Let me know what you think of the photo to the left. I am thinking of having it printed on Metallic in large format! All sizes are up for grabs but the large format metallic print will being my studio for sale, as well placed on my etsy site.

Let me know if your interested in a print, and what size!

Guardian Of The Night

Guardian Of The Night

I have been working on cleaning out some external hard drives (I have 4) and making some inspirational posters. As well as dealing with some personal issues over a doctor. Perhaps I write a blog about that issue at another time. The poster attached is my most recent poster I have created and the background, the gargoyle guarded house is one of my favorites in our neighborhood.

I love going and looking at this house during the day or even at dusk. Imagining as if those magnificent guardians of stone are looking down upon us, watching over those who live there in that house. Stretching their stone wings after dark when everyone is asleep and scarring away all the bad spirits and wrong doers, Having taken an oath to guard and protect those who live within these stone walls of this house.

Dream Catcher Reflects:

I am working on a new painting it is a dream catcher on an antique mirror. The idea that popped into my head as I looked into the mirror was Dream Catchers and dreams are similar to mirrors. For the dream catches repel the bad dreams allowing only the Good to pass through and reflect into the mind of the dreamer. Yet, deflects the bad dreams by catching them into the webbing.

Death and Decay

Death and DecayDeath and Decay

When health can turn into sickness, with what ease secure possessions can turn insecure, with nature youth inclines in one direction only—the direction of old age, with what ease old age inclines in one direction only—the direction of decay and death, are they not then thoroughly disillusioned? Or are they connected? Can they then be heard to say “This earth-life really satisfies us”? Because we move within a circle sickness – health / Youth to death and decay / good and evil..all of life goes round and round.

Reaching Out

Campaign –

I have started a Campaign to get a new lap top.  I am offering signed prints in return for donations. The laptop I have is dying and I use it in so many fashions, from my computer paintings, to these very blogs.  I am hoping to get a lap top that is high end processor with maximum ram, so that I can create even better artwork for you my fans.

Please, have a look at the campaign  and share it with your fans.  Every little bit helps and every little bit will be rewarded with at least a 5×7 and larger signed print. If you do not like the print I am offering, please feel free to let me know and I will be glad to let you choose a different print.

Thank you and Blessings,

“The Very Sad, Holy Angel”

Holy Angel

11/365 – I was torn between Holy Angel , Sad Angel , and Sacred Angel. I am very pleased with the way this angel turned out. Comments are welcomed. A fan of my work who reads and comments on a regular basis commented on this painting and called it “The Very Sad, Holy Angel” I liked it so much I changed the title from just “Holy Angel”. Thank you Jonathan Hilton for you suggestion.

Nightmare or Entertainment?

Many people find clowns to be scary and a thing of nightmares. Yet they are used for a feature of entertainment in parades, carnivals and circuses. You can even hire one to entertain your kids at birthday parties.

The art of clowning has existed for thousands of years. A pygmy clown performed as a jester in the court of Pharaoh, during Egypt’s Fifth Dynasty about 2500 B.C. and Court jesters have performed in China since 1818 B.C. Throughout history most cultures have had clowns. As a matter of fact most Native American tribes had some type of clown character which played an important role in the social and religious life of the tribe, and in some cases were believed to be able to cure certain diseases.

Clowns have gone by many names around the world throughout history including: Auguste, Bobo (Spain c. 1500’s), buffoon, Contrary (Native America Plains Tribes), Fool, Gleeman (England, medieval), Hano (Native American), Harlequin (Commedia Del Arte “&” English Pantomime), Jester, Joey, Koyemsi (Native American Hope Tribe), Minstrel (Europe, medieval, “&” America, 1800’s “&” 1900’s), Newekwe (Native America Zuni Tribe), Tramp (America), Trickster (mythology of many cultures), Whiteface, and Zany (Italy). They have also had as many faces as they have had names, because many clowns have their own “faces”, their own make up and style.

If you find the clown to be more nightmarish then you are said to have coulrophobia.

Here is to the world of clowns – be they for entertainment or to chase off diseases and evil spirits or if they are like Uncle Sam and shot out political campaigns.

May your noses be red and shiny,
And your smile always bright.
May your cheeks be nice and rosy,
Your eyes sparkle in the light.
May your shoes be always too big,
Your costume be perma-pressed,
Your heart overflow with laughter,
Every time your clown is dressed.
May face paint be at the ready,
And your balloons be “easy-blow”.
May children run to greet you,
Wherever you may go.
